BibleWorks 10 was
billed as "the premier
original languages Bible software program for Biblical exegesis and
research." It comes with Greek, Hebrew, and Septuagint Bibles for your
computer, as well as translations in English, German, Spanish, Chinese,
Korean, and more! For over sixteen years, BibleWorks has satisfied
Bible software users around the world.
Word Processing
Nota Bene
Unless you are serious about
writing in academic biblical studies, you don't need this!
Nota Bene
[Biblical studies
software for scholars who are serious about writing] Here
is the best software
available for serious writers in biblical studies (as well as other
fields). The very best program to use for typing Greek and
Hebrew, formatting papers, footnotes, bibliography and the
like. Read the following review by a satisfied
user: This is Mark D. Szuchman, a professor at Florida
International University,
The
academic suite of applications in Nota Bene is unrivalled in its
dedication to serving the needs of the teaching and research
communities. Other word-processing programs can do more in the way of
graphic representation of "word art," but no program can match Nota
Bene for its combined features of writing, organizing, presenting and
editing of text for class or for submitting works to journals and book
publishers. Other database programs can perform numerical calculations,
but none do more to deliver terms and concepts to the writer in
meaningful relationships. Other bibliographic management programs are
available but none are as tightly integrated into documents or the
word-processing engine. And no program provides the confidence,
consistency and ease of academic style automation offered by Nota Bene
from title to last footnote. [The link for this review is no
longer available. ]
In 2015, the version
stands at 10 and it is loaded with features,
like graphics importing and more.
Look at the following
components in this highly integrated collection of programs.
Keep in mind that these are separate programs but are tightly woven
together to make an awesome suite for writers:
The current (2019) website
states this:
Nota Bene: a word processor for scholars ... a bibliographic
manager for those who are tired of typing/formatting their own
citations and bibliographies ... a personal search engine for those who
want to find anything they've ever written in seconds ... a database
manager for those who have things to keep track of ... a Greek,
Cyrilllic, Arabic, Hebrew, and IPA word processor for those who want
more than just fonts ... an Internet search tool for those who need to
find and capture bibliographic data ... a set of tools for scholars who
want to focus on their writing and research ... a work of art for
scholars who appreciate the finer things in life ... a community of
scholars. http://www.notabene.com/
Earlier
versions of NB did not easily import previously written MS Word files
if a lot of Greek and Hebrew words are in them. They had to
be
re-keyed, or at least jostled a bit. Apparently, this problem
was fixed way back in January 2002. Word documents
can be
converted into NB rather easily w/out the languages. The
website
will update you to the newest products.
This program is
expensive.
Unless you are serious about writing, you don't need it! This company went through some problems about
15 years ago and had trouble supporting its customers (I was one of
them, so I dropped the program for Microsoft Word and am currently
unable to use any of the files I created via this program.)
Those problems are said to be long gone.
